PADI Open Water Class Information

Classes taught at Bradley University in Peoria; Washington's Five Points, Eureka College, Lincoln College, and also Bloomington if enough interest. Additional sites may be available. Staff at Aqua Diving School can work with your schedule if needed. Private or semi-private sessions are available.  Cost for the classroom and confined water training including all scuba equipment, $137.  Books and DVDs are available for purchase at Aqua Diving School or they can be sent to you.  We will match any price offered.

Regular scheduled classes consist of 2 to five sessions. Classes are split between class and pool time. Course can be completed in one weekend. All students vary in their comfort level in the water and our staff is aware that more or less time may be needed for students to complete the course.  You can watch your own PADI DVD or CD Rom Which will shorten your class time.  They are excellent for review. All scuba equipment is provided in the class. Books can be purchased at our store or they can be sent. Mask, fins, snorkel, and boots can also be purchased at our store or they can be rented for a small fee for the class. If not sure about a purchase try the equipment in the water first.  The rental can be applied to purchase if done before the certification dives.  Receive a six months subscription of Dive Trainer with this class.

Certification dives consist of four open water dives for which there is a one time fee. Expect some additional trip costs.  These dives can be completed locally, on one of our popular Bull Shoals trips, or weekend trips to Mermet, Haig Quarry,and Strode Lake.  During the winter months training dives can be completed in Mermet Springs, Bonne Terre Mine (Minimum of 4 students needed) or on one of our Florida trips.  They can also be completed on one of our fantastic Caribbean trips, or a referral package can be obtained if you have ocean trip which is not accompanied by one of our instructors. Students must arrange to pick up their scuba equipment for their training dives.

Special College Student & Veteran Offers

Bradley students receive a discount for classes offered at Bradley University.           Class through ICC receive $25 credit towards  rental or  purchase of snorkeling equipment.  Free scuba classes for Illinois military veterans through ICC.

March 22, Monday, 6:00 PM at Aqua Diving/Washington Five Points. Also for ICC credit.

March 20 or 27, Saturday, 8 or 9 AM at Aqua Diving/Washington Five Points.  Also for ICC credit.

April 17 -18 or 24-25, Weekend classes at Eureka College.  Also Saturday class, April 17, 24, May 1.

June 7, Monday, 6:00 PM at Aqua Diving/Washington Five Points. Also for ICC credit.

July 9 - 11, Weekend classes at Eureka College.

August 23, Monday, 6:00 PM at Aqua Diving/Washington Five Points. Also for ICC credit.

August 28, Saturday, 8 or 9 AM at Aqua Diving/Washington Five Points.  Also for ICC credit.

PADI E-Learning (on-line class  

Need to complete class ASAP arrange for private or semi-private class? Can be completed in one or two sessions.  Semiprivate classes (2 to 4 students) only $170 to $195.  Private class, $250.  For E-Learning: Click below to registrar  for an On-Line class.  All book work will be completed at home.  Email or call us after you sign up and we will arrange for your confined water training and open water dives.  Cost will depend on the number of sessions required.

Scuba Review held during our normal sessions

Anytime you have been away from scuba diving and are planning to get back into diving or have scheduled a trip, it is recommended to do some kind of review. Join us at one of our many pool sessions and do a practice session on your own for the cost of renting equipment. Or review scuba skills with an instructor for a small fee. A review sticker is available upon completion of the entire review course (requires completion of workbook and one pool session). A buoyancy session or any other class which has pool time will also work as a review. $55

Introductory Scuba Class (Discover Scuba)
This is a class that allows non-divers the chance to experience underwater breathing. Introduce your friends or relatives to diving. Call for our special free sessions.

PADI Adventure Diver
Complete only 3 dives of your choice and the knowledge review from the Adventure Diver Manual to receive this rating. Can be completed on any of our dive trips or locally. Can continue with Advanced or Advanced Plus any time after. $25 per dive.

Advanced Classes

PADI Advanced Scuba Class, $100
Still carrying a C-card which labels you as a novice diver obtain training beyond the Open Water.  Some locations will not allow you to dive on wrecks or deep dives. Advanced certification consists of five open water dives: navigation, deep, and three dives of your choice such as night, wreck, photography, search and recovery, underwater naturalist, and more. Sign up for one of our weekend or ocean trips and complete your Advanced certification on the trip. Begin anytime.

PADI Advanced Scuba Class with additional pool and classroom, $137
Enroll in our regularly scheduled Advanced Class, which consists of two additional pool sessions.  We develop skills needed to successfully complete the above dives as well as teach rescue skills, search and recovery, use of underwater propulsion vehicles, underwater hockey, and more. Instruct you in diving physiology, physics, equipment maintenance, use of the dive wheel, and more.  Class fee includes the cost of the training dives and certification. It does not include the rental of the scuba equipment for the training dives or any trip costs.  Advanced certification can be completed on all of our Bull Shoals, Mermet, and ocean trips. A student may begin the Advanced class before completion of the Open Water certification but must complete the Open Water certification dives before the Advanced Open Water dives.  $130.    Tentatitive starting dates: Monday, March 1, 6 PM/ Saturday AM, April 24, and Saturday AM, July 10.

Rescue Class
This class expands your diving skills, awareness of diving environment, and rescue training. This class allows a diver to improve his ability to handle personal emergencies as well prevent them; and trains the diver to help others. Class consists of four sessions including at least one pool session and one open water sessions. Can begin the class before completing the Advanced certification. The class is required for the distinguished PADI Master Scuba Diver and it is a prerequisite for the Divemaster class.  $155.  Tentative date: May 22, 2010.

Emergency Responder class
$55 (only $35 for renewal) plus books.  This class is a first aid and CPR class teaching to handle a variety of medical emergencies. Class includes use of defibulator. Class is recommended for all divers, as well as non-divers. Required training for Rescue divers, Divemasters.   May, 2010.  Child CPR available.

Emergency Responder Instructor Class.  Approximately $300 which includes books.  Become an instructor in CPR, First Aid, and AED.  Can teach at your workplace, school, family and friends.  John is an EFR instructor trainer.

Divemaster
$200.  Trains divers to supervise diving activities, serve as an underwater guide, and as an instructional assistant. Prerequisite for Instructor certification. Current divemasters assist with our classes and training dives and serve as part-time staff. Arrange for starting date. Arranged

Assistant Instructor
$250.  The last level before Instructor. Divemasters are trained to teach students under instructor supervision. Assistant instructors can teach a variety of classes. Complete the first part of your IDC locally under a local PADI Staff Instructor. Arranged

PADI Specialty Classes
A great way to expand your diving knowledge and training. Five specialty classes and Rescue Diving are required to earn the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. Have fun obtaining this prestigious level of certification Many of the specialty classes are not on a regular schedule so please let us know which classes you are interested in.

Enriched Air
$110 or $135 with DVD.   Price includes books and all dive tables.  Qualify to dive with higher % oxygen to increase bottom time as well as other benefits.  Pre-requisite for tec diving.

Underwater Photography/Digital Photography
Learn underwater photography techniques. You will use a variety of different cameras including video, which will allow you to determine the type of equipment which best suits your needs, interests, and budget. It will further improve diving techniques useful when taking pictures, as well as when being photographed. Underwater Videographer is similar to above except using a housed video camera.

Wreck diving
$75 or $125 with crewpack.  Learn techniques useful in diving on or inside wrecks. Small wrecks can be dived at the Chillicothe Pitts and Bull Shoals Lake. Larger wrecks are accessible for penetration in Mermet Springs, Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, and a number of Caribbean and Pacific destinations. This class is generally taught in conjunction with one of our trips.

Underwater Buoyancy
$55 or $80 with DVD.  Improve your diving skills at whatever level of diving you may have. Use the Professional Diamond Reef Training System. This class is an excellent refresher class at a very small fee. Can be repeated. Specialty certification upon completing two open water dives.

Search and Recovery
$95 or $140 with crewpack.  Learn to search and map our local waters. Very helpful for recovering personal lost items. Some of our more experienced divers will occasionally be called to complete search and recovery jobs. Recommended for divemasters.

Equipment Repair
$55.  An overview of most diving equipment, equipment maintenance, as well as basic repairs. Very useful for any diver. Recommended for divemasters. Regulators and other equipment will be disassembled and reassembled to show students how they work and how to take care of emergency field maintenance. Class is generally scheduled during the winter.  January 13, Wednesday evening, 6 PM.

Underwater Naturalist
Learn about the diversity of life in fresh water lakes. Generally coordinated with trip to Pearl Lake or France Park. Can also be scheduled with our ocean trips to learn more about the ocean environment.

Underwater Navigation
$65 or $115 with crewpack.  Improve and expand on both natural and compass navigation

Dry Suit
$150 or $200 with crewpack includes one pool session and use of Dry Suit for your certification dives.  Learn about the use and maintenance of dry suits.  Dive in comfort in cold water. Sign up now to prepare you for these dives. Arranged before any trip.

Cavern Diving and Cave Diving
Now available. Special techniques taught to ensure safe diving. Complete in Bonne Terre Mine or on a Florida trip.  February/March 2010 class $150 plus $230 for lodging, Bonne Terre dives, and transportation.   Cave Diving: Summer in southern Missouri or Florida.  Must complete cavern first!
